The University of Strasbourg has more than 750 partners in over 75 countries.  

It has strong historical links with Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and Canada.

You are a teacher-researcher, researcher or administrative staff of the University of Strasbourg, you wish to conclude an international cooperation agreement, the unique engineering pole of the International Relations Department helps you in the elaboration, the search for funds and the formalization of your project. 

Submit a brief description of your international cooperation project using the international cooperation project form.

The International Relations Department's single engineering unit will contact you for further action. 

Our strategic partners

The European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) "Eucor - The European Campus" was created in 2016.

It brings together five German, French and Swiss universities in the Upper Rhine region (Universität Basel, Universität Freiburg, Université de Haute-Alsace, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Université de Strasbourg).

It aims to unite the potential and pool the skills of teachers, researchers, doctoral students and students from the member universities. Together with the European Campus, the five universities form a borderless international scientific and academic area of excellence.

The Franco-German University (UFA) aims to improve Franco-German cooperation in higher education.

It promotes relations and exchanges between French and German educational institutions by supporting bi-national projects in the field of teaching, both at undergraduate and graduate level, research and the training of future researchers. It also works for :

  • Strengthening cooperation in the fields of higher education and research;
  • Increasing student mobility;
  • The creation, support and implementation of Franco-German integrated programmes;
  • Support for doctoral students and young researchers;
  • Strengthening the bi-national competence of graduates in their fields of study.

The French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) was established in 2016 on the initiative of the Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the French Republic. It involves the University of Strasbourg, the University of Rennes 1 and the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry.

Its double degree programme allows citizens of Azerbaijan to pursue higher education in their home country, according to the academic and scientific standards of the French education system, without leaving their country.

The European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions (EPICUR) is the first generation of European university alliances, winner of the call for pilot projects launched by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme.

The alliance is composed of 8 higher education institutions across Europe. Led by the University of Strasbourg, it aims to develop well-informed, open-minded and responsible European citizens, capable of creating new knowledge and becoming drivers of European innovation.

The League of European Research Universities (LERU) is an association of 23 European universities with a particular focus on research. The University of Strasbourg is one of its founding members. The objective of this network, created in 2002, is to influence European research policies and to develop best practices through the exchange of experiences between member universities.

The Utrecht Network was established in 1987 and has 30 members in 24 countries.  Its common mission is to share best practice and improve the internationalisation process for students and staff.

The Agence universitaire de la francophonie (AUF) brings together 1007 universities, grandes écoles, university networks and scientific research centres using the French language in 119 countries. Created 60 years ago, it is one of the largest associations of higher education and research institutions in the world. It is also the operator for higher education and research of the Francophonie Summit.

The Academic Consortium for the 21st Century (AC21) was established in 2002. Composed of 14 universities, it aims to promote educational and research cooperation among members, to build bridges between different societies of the world, and to impart wisdom to all peoples so that they understand and share with each other the values, knowledge and cultures necessary to improve the quality of life and foster coexistence across national and regional boundaries in the 21st century.

Created in November 2020, the Anime network (Academic Network on Inclusiveness, multilingualism and Excellence) is led by the Vice President Europe and International Relations, Professor Irini Tsamadou-Jacoberger. Formalised in the framework of the IDEX programme "Internationalisation of the institution. From bilateral cooperation to network cooperation', the network is oriented towards higher education institutions in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, with which the University of Strasbourg has so far made little use of its cooperation opportunities. Anime is thus intended to be a collective springboard for moving forward together in terms of reflection and experimentation: educational innovation, projects of excellence, exchanges of good practices, based on common values.

The European University Association (EUA) represents over 800 universities and national rectors' conferences in 48 European countries. EUA plays a crucial role in the Bologna Process and in influencing European policies on higher education, research and innovation. Through continuous interaction with European and international organisations, the EUA ensures that the independent voice of European universities is heard.

The Union of Mediterranean Universities (Unimed) was founded in October 1991. This network of universities in the Mediterranean basin comprises 140 universities from 23 countries on both sides of the Mediterranean. Its objective is to promote university research and training in the Euro-Mediterranean region to contribute to the process of scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation.

Campus France promotes French higher education to students in the 126 countries where its 260 centres are located.

These Campus France centres provide students with information on the courses available in France, help them draw up their study plans and complete the administrative procedures required for their departure. In addition, the Campus France centres are responsible for implementing the Study in France procedure in the countries concerned.

The Network of European Universities in Life Sciences (Eurolife) is a network of 9 prestigious academic institutions and European centres with a worldwide reputation for excellence in biomedical and medical research across Europe.

Eurolife promotes and facilitates collaborative research, joint postgraduate training and education, exchange of researchers and students and the development of joint research projects.

The Network of Excellence for University Leaders in Governance and Management (DG2 Network) brings together 13 universities from 9 countries on 4 continents.  They have joined together to create the eMobi@Dg2 Virtual Mobility Consortium.  This virtual mobility project allows students to access distance learning courses offered by the different universities in the network, while continuing their programme at their home university.
